Sanctuary Choir Director
Curt provides musical leadership to the Sanctuary Choir, Organ and Piano Accompaniment, and congregational singing in the 11:00 Service. Thoughtful and well prepared anthems and special music are a staple of this service. Sanctuary Choir rehearsals are on Sundays at 6:00 PM in the Choir room and no auditions are required to participate.

Curt is 62 years old and was born on July 23, 1949 in Henderson, Tennessee.  He met his future Wife, Janet Susan Trevathan at Haywood High School, Brownsville, Tennessee, the high school where they were both teachers. They married in 1975.

Curt graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martiin in 1971 with a B.S. degree in Music Education. He attended the summer session at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey in the summer of 1970 and 1972, on the graduate level. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with an M.M. degree in Conducting in 1981 and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1986 with a Ph.D. in Music Education.

Curt and Janet have two children, Jennifer Hamlett Saucedo, 33, a lawyer in Dallas, Texas and Chris Hamlett, 27, who is a short order cook & free-lance musician in Pineville, Louisiana.

He served as a paid soloist at the First United Methodist Church in Brownwood, Texas; Interim Minister of Music at First United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana; Director of Music Ministries at the First United Methodist Church in Pineville, Louisiana; and, Director of Music, Worship & the Arts at St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Curt was Choral Director at Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee for nine years and Choral Director and Instructor of Music at Laredo Community College in Laredo, Texas for two years. He was also Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Music at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas for three years and Director of Choral Activities Associate Professor of Music and Professor of Music at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana for nineteen years.

He was active as a Scout & Scouter (Assistant Scout Master) in the Boy Scouts of America (West Tennessee Area Council) and served as Program Director and Camp Director at the council's camp (Camp Mack Morris) in the 1970's.

Curt & his Wife Janet enjoy traveling. While conductor of the Louisiana College Chorale, they traveled to Europe touring with the choir three times & lived in London, England for a semester while Curt was teaching in Louisiana College's London Semester program at Birkbeck College, the University of London.
