Curt provides musical leadership to the Sanctuary Choir, Organ and Piano Accompaniment, and congregational singing in the second service. In the second service, he works hard to have thoughtful and well prepared anthems along with other special music that have become a staple of this service. Sanctuary Choir rehearsals are on Sundays at 6:00 PM in the Choir room and no auditions are required to participate.

Curt was born in Henderson, Tennessee and he met his wife, Janet Trevathan at Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee.  They were both teachers at the high school and they got married in 1975.

Curt graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1971 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Music Education. He attended the summer session at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey in the summers of 1970 and 1972.  He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with an Masters of Music degree in Conducting in 1981.  In 1986, he went on to receive a Ph.D in Music when he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Curt and Janet have two children, Jennifer Hamlett Saucedo, a lawyer in Dallas, Texas, and Chris Hamlett, who is a short order cook and free-lance musician in Pineville, Louisiana.

Curt has served as a paid soloist at the First United Methodist Church in Brownwood, Texas; Interim Minister of Music at First United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana; Director of Music Ministries at the First United Methodist Church in Pineville, Louisiana; and Director of Music, Worship and the Arts at St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Curt was Choral Director at Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee for nine years and Choral Director and Instructor of Music at Laredo Community College in Laredo, Texas for two years. He was also Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Music at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas for three years.  He was also Director of Choral Activities Associate Professor of Music and Professor of Music at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana for nineteen years.

He was active as a Scout and Scout Leader in the Boy Scouts of America in the West Tennessee Area Council.  He also served as Program Director and Camp Director at the council's camp (Camp Mack Morris) in the 1970's.

Curt and his wife Janet enjoy traveling. While he served as conductor of the Louisiana College Chorale, they traveled to Europe.  During that time, they toured with the choir three times and lived in London, England for a semester.  This was while Curt was teaching in Louisiana College's London Semester program at Birkbeck College, the University of London.
