We love children here at Salem UMC!

Our congregation has made a long term commitment to provide a clean, safe, and well supervised environment to nurture your child. The program is constantly improving to create new and exciting learning experiences. Please be assured that Salem UMC takes this responsiblility very seriously.

Your input and suggestions are valued and appreciated.

A Nursery Coordinator and congregation volunteers provide child care during Worship Services for children ages newborn through 3 years old. During the Sunday School hour, the Nursery is available for children under 2. Child Care is also available during church events.

The nursery is located in the children's wing.

    Pre-Schoolers
  • We offer full curriculum for preschool children ages 3-5 (prekindergarten). They have their own class for Sunday school and Adventure Club on Wednesday nights. We focus on teaching these little ones about God's love and the basic stories from the Bible.

Many of our church members help with this age group on both Sunday mornings and on Wednesday nights. The volunteers work hard to present the children with education but also have fun.  Sunday school meets year-round on Sunday mornings at 10am in the PreK room next to the nursery.  The Adventure Club meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm during the school year.

    Grade Schoolers
  • Our school age program is divided into two age groups, K-3rd grade and 4th-5th grade. Both meet during Sunday school at 10 am on Sunday mornings and for Adventure Club at 6:30 pm on Wednesday nights during the school year.

Our Sunday School program for grades K-3rd features a rotation curriculum. Each month we focus on one lesson/story and rotate each Sunday to a new room to help learn and reinforce the lesson. We rotate between movies, art, storytelling, computers, and cooking. Sunday school is taught by many volunteers including Kathy Turpin and Rachel Powell.

Classes for our 4th-5th grade focus on more in depth Bible Study. We try to help build on the spiritual foundation started in younger elementary and prepare them for their preteen and teenage years. This preteen class is taught by Becky McPeake during Sunday school and Carol Fullington on Wednesday nights.
